If you are looking to get involved you have come to the right place! Details on our school committees are provided on the right! Each committee is managed by a board or school advisor to ensure proper school alignment. Check the school calendar in our school app for upcoming committee meetings. 

                      ATHLETICS COMMITTEE

                       Board Advisor: Open Seat

​

PURPOSE

​The goal of the Athletic Committee is to help develop, establish, and support athletic options for students; while promoting school wide spirit, and enhancing the athletic experience for all New Leaf Prep Academy students. 

​

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

​The athletic committee will coordinate and provide resources for students to get involved in athletics locally, and establish and develop school sports teams through community support and parent involvement.

​

TASKS MAY INCLUDE​

  • Provide resources for athletic programs that students can join while a school athletic program can be developed.

  • Create and implement an athletic program for the school. 

  • Facilitate communication and cooperation between the athletics program and New Leaf community (students, staff, faculty and administration)

  • Committee will be informed of the schedule of athletic events and team practice schedules, etc.

  • Stay in regular communication with the Head of School and School Board.

  • Meet regularly to discuss ideas and coordination of future athletic program/teams.

  • Track spending efforts of the athletic program.

  • Ensure proper alignment of athletic program with the school’s mission and approach to a natural lifestyle.

  • Communicate with parents, students, and faculty on athletics.

                          BUILDING & GROUNDS COMMITTEE

                       Board Advisors: Dan Christoff

                       & Jason Vandenbush

​

PURPOSE​

to direct development of the building, facilities and grounds, including playgrounds, gardens, outdoor classrooms and spaces.

The committee will oversee:

  • Playgrounds

  • Playground equipment

  • Gardens

  • Outdoor Classrooms

  • Outdoor spaces (walking paths, benches, reading areas, compost, parking lot, lighting etc.)

  • Building and Facility additions and improvements

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

​

The actions required of the committee may include:

  • Develop a masterplan for the playground, gardens and outdoor classrooms, either internally or with external vendors.

  • Coordinate all efforts for development and implementation of the masterplan.

  • Plan, prepare and maintain gardens in accordance with the masterplan.

  • Identify student learning or involvement opportunities related to implementation of the masterplan.

  • Annual report on the condition of outdoor spaces and equipment and provide recommendations for the upcoming school year.

  • Identify options to add to or improve outdoor classroom spaces

  • Identify options to add to or improve the building and facilities

  • Aid in review of any additions or improvements to the building.

  • Provide guidance to Board, School Leadership and Community Involvement and Public Relations Committee on upcoming and active initiatives.

                           SPECIALS COMMITTEE

                        Board Advisor: Ashley Pamperin-Sexauer

 

PURPOSE

The Specials, Curriculum and Community Committee at New Leaf Prep Academy is responsible for reviewing and developing special curriculum through pupil assessment, long-term program review and program revisions. The Committee also develops and ensures a consistent brand for New Leaf Prep Academy that involves the community and creates community outreach

​

AREAS OF FOCUS

·    STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Science)

·    Green Campus: energy efficiency, usage efficiency, environmental interaction and impact awareness

·    Music

·    Art

·    Field trips, community discovery/partnerships and job shadowing ideas/recommendations (Coordinated with Community Involvement Committee)

·       Community Service

·       Community Relationships and Partnerships

·       Internal and External Documentation

 

**Athletics are covered under their own committee.

​

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

·    Conduct and/or coordinate curriculum studies undertaken by the Board

·    Report to the Board, Twice Annually, on the status of the curriculum and suggests area in need of study;

·    Research and recommend potential specials to offer;

·    Research and recommend potential field trips, community discovery/partnerships and job shadowing opportunities.

·    Evaluate curriculum in view of school population trends;

·    Identify, research and present potential extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.

·    Developing tracking system for Community Service

·    Developing list of opportunities for Community Service

·    Identifying and maintaining top community contacts and relationships

·    Annual review of documentation to ensure consistent branding, readability and ease of use.

·    Assist in development of templates and standards

·    Establishing goal/vision/purpose of PR/marketing strategy.

·    Seek local news partners to share “press releases”

                             STAFF APPRECIATION COMMITTEE

                        FUNDRAISING & EVENTS COMMITTEE

                       Board Advisor: Brianna Simoens

​

 

PURPOSE

The New Leaf Prep Academy Fundraising and Events Committee (FEC) objective is to raise money and coordinate events. Fundraising money fills budget gaps and creates additional and unique opportunities for the students and staff of NLPA. The school itself and other school committees may propose fund requests from the FEC.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The FEC will be involved in planning events, at the school and offsite, to facilitate community and parent involvement, raise money, train on natural and Montessori methods, promote health and wellness of staff and students and more!
